REFORMA LOW COST- LOW COST REFORM

¿Cómo convertir un espacio triste y aburrido en un dormitorio cálido y vibrante?
El reto principal de esta reforma era crear una habitación de matrimonio a partir de otra ya existente con el menor presupuesto posible.
Lo primero que se cambió fué la distribución del dormitorio, decidí poner la habitación en el orden más lógico y funcional.

How to turn a sad and boring space into a warm and vibrant bedroom?
The main challenge of this reform was to create a double room from an existing one with the lowest possible budget.
The first change was the distribution of the bedroom, I decided to put in on the most logical and functional order.

Los propietarios no eran capaces de ver otra distribución que la que ya tenían y se excusaban en decir que al habitación era pequeña... (pese a que esta tiene casi 20 metros cuadrados) pero en cuanto vieron el plano entendieron que estaban equivocados. Para nosotros, los diseñadores; es fácil cambiar una distribución poniendo todo justamente al contrario de como esta, ya que lo hacemos a diario; pero para los propietarios suele ser una gran dificultad pues están acostumbrados a ver el mobiliario siempre en el mismo lugar...
Dada la limitación de presupuesto, se optó por buscar antigüedades que los propietarios tenían en el desván! Es fascinante cómo muchas veces tenemos los objetos decorativos más valiosos buscando simplemente en el trastero.
De allí se rescató el tocadiscos del abuelo, al que hubo que hacerle una puesta a punto para que volviera a funcionar, también encontramos dos maletas antiguas, una de ellas de madera y la otra de cuero, en tono marrón canela.

The owners were not able to see other distribution than they already had and they excused themselves saying that the room was small ... (although this is almost 215 square feets), but when they saw the plane understood that they were wrong. For us, the designers; is easy to change a distribution putting everything just in the opposite place, because we do it every day; but owners often have great difficulties because they are used to seeing the furniture always in the same place...
Given the limited budget, we chose to look for antiques that the owners had in the attic! It is fascinating how often we have decorative objects extremely valuable simply looking in the attic.
There we found the pick up record player that belonged to Grandpa, which we had to make a overhaul work to see it working again, we also found two ancient suitcases, one of them made of wood and the other one made of leather, in cinnamon Brown.

 


La mejor opción y la más económica es optar por lo simple, se cambió el color de la habitación utilizando un gris piedra, se mantuvo el estucado para evitar sobrecostes, solución que finalmente se agradece pues aporta una textura muy agradable al conjunto.
En el caso del cabecero existía la posibilidad de colocar uno más grande y que apoyara en el suelo, pero teniendo en cuenta que la tendencia es ponerlos más pequeños y que este se podía colgar, era más económico y más inteligente colocar uno estrecho; esto le confiere al dormitorio un aspecto más minimalista y funcional.El diseño de la cama se concluyó con dos mesillas auxiliares lacadas en negro rematadas cada una de ellas con una lámpara de arquitecto (éstas rondan los 10€ de valor).
Se utilizaron los objetos del desván a modo de mesa auxiliar junto a una silla Tower que hace las veces de descalzadora. ¿Puedes imaginarte sentarte relajado en ese espacio mientras escuchas un vinilo de Etta James?

The best and most economical option is to opt for the simple, the color of the walls was changed using a gray stone color, the stucco was maintained to avoid extra costs, a solution that finally was great because the result was a very nice texture.
For the headboard was possible to place a larger one and supported on the ground, but given that the trend is to put them smaller and this one could be hanged, it was cheaper and smarter place one smaller; this gives the room a minimalist and functional aspect.
The bed design was completed with two black lacquered side tables topped both with an architect lamp (they cost around € 10).
Attic objects are used as a side table next to a tower chair that serves as a shoe-removing chair. Could you imagine yourself sitting down relaxed in that space while you are listening a vinyl of Etta James?

 

Por último los cojines y detalles se eligieron yendo de shopping con los propietarios, me encantó llevar a cabo de nuevo la responsabilidad de hacer de "personal shopper", es algo que me apasiona y suelo hacerlo en todos mis diseños; pues da la oportunidad a los clientes de formar parte del diseño y siempre aprenden mucho con mis consejos.
Espero que os haya gustado esta reforma y os haya servido para saber que no es necesario gastar mucho dinero para mejorar el diseño de vuestra casa, que con la ayuda de un profesional y un poco de imaginación se pueden crear espacios muy acogedores.

Finally cushions and details were chosen going shopping with the owners, I loved to take again the responsability and playing the part of "personal shopper" it is something that I love and I usually do in all my designs; it gives customers the opportunity to be part of the design and always and they learn a lot with my tips.
